If you are easily offended, this blog is not for you. Before you read, you have to practice the art of accepting criticism and the discipline of inclusive decision making. Understand that opinions are best made with the realization that they may be changed later, and the ability to accept all views MUST be balanced with the ability to disagree with some. Oxymoron? Not really. Let me explain.
Years ago, it was unacceptable to listen to Jazz music. It was called the "music of the devil", because there was a strong beat, percussion, horns. It was not your Latin hymns, so it was not acceptable. Today, Jazz is the stuff of elevators and calls on hold to the DMV. It is even sung in church. Today, those things are not in conflict.
That brings the matter up that if they do not conflict with each other today, did they then? Or were people just “closed minded”. Could there be some of both? And how many subjects today are unacceptable that might not be someday. Gay marriage. Eyebrow rings. Should we accept that some people will remain in one opinion about it while others change?
I think the main problem with conflicting opinions is that most Americans are under the impression that what they think and do only affects themselves. They drop a dollar into the Salvation Army bucket to “make a difference.” Do you even realize how much of a difference you make everyday, be it positive or negative, big or small.
The mission of this blog is to take what the world says and look at it through new eyes. To provide you with the ability to find your balance between tradition and progress, fact and theory. It is okay to be different, it is okay to be the same, you decide which is best from one subject to another. Open your new eyes.
